Why are LED lights environmentally friendly

Why are LED lights environmentally friendly?

The LED, for Light Emitting Diode Light Emitting Diode, is an electronic component that emits light on the principle of electroluminescence, bypassing the current in one direction. The history of LED technology is fairly recent, has become widely available in lighting only in the years 2000 and 2010. The LED lighting can be considered ecological lighting for several reasons.

Low consumption

The low energy consumption of LEDs is the main reason why people replace their conventional bulbs with LED bulbs, such as the widely used LED bulbs. When purchased, LED bulbs are slightly more expensive than conventional bulbs, but they consume much less energy. The savings on your electricity bill are quickly visible. To illustrate our point with numbers, eco-friendly LED lighting has up to 80% lower power consumption than traditional bulbs. Its electricity consumption is also up to 10 times lower than that of compact fluorescent bulbs, yet commonly called low energy bulbs.

Absence of toxic products

You may not know it, but most bulbs contain chemicals and toxic substances like mercury. Conversely, the ecological lighting of bulbs with LED technology does not contain any dangerous substances. By opting for LED bulbs, you respect the environment and make a gesture for nature and your health. In addition, LEDs are recyclable. You can put your used lamps in different collection locations, such as containers for DIY stores or major retailers.

Long-life

Ecological lighting is sustainable lighting. At this level, the LEDs are still the champions. They have a very long life, which can go up to 25 years of daily use, 25 to 50 times more than a conventional incandescent bulb. Indeed, the life of LED lamps is well above that of other lighting modes. It can range from 30,000 to 50,000 hours on average, compared to 1,000 hours for fluorescent lamps and 10,000 hours for compact fluorescent lamps. Several items of expenditure are therefore very quickly profitable, including the maintenance and replacement of your facilities.

A very good light output

LED technology is very powerful. The light output of this ecological lighting mode is very high, up to 6 times higher than that of a traditional incandescent bulb. The output of the LED lamp is around 100 lumens per Watts, while that of fluorescent bulbs is closer to 15 lumens per Watt. This very good performance is due in particular to the low heat emitted and does not affect the quality of the brightness. And the various technological evolutions allow us to hope to reach an even greater luminous efficiency soon!

Instant lighting

Unlike other lighting modes, LED lighting provides the optimum brightness level when the switch is pressed. Moreover, it resists very well the different extinction and ignition cycles. As you have understood, it is better to choose LED bulbs rather than conventional bulbs because they allow you to save energy while protecting the environment. But that's not all since LED bulbs are also very powerful bulbs able to transcribe an almost natural light. In addition, it is possible to find bulbs with different lighting colors! So if you're tired of spending too much money on electricity, start by changing your classic bulbs by dimmable LED bulbs for example. You will realize that over time you will make significant savings, which is not negligible when you already have a lot of costs and it is not clear on which position to save money. The ecological lighting is now everywhere and is easy to install and use.
